How many non-fiction texts can you read in the next month?
This week at Hollywood, we are commemorating the centenary of World War 1.
Each class is taking part in their own way, researching and learning about how the sacrifices made in both World Wars have impacted on our lives today.
Keep checking the HollyBlogs to see what we have been doing.

Competition – the football truce
100 years ago the game of football was used as an act of peace as soldiers from both sides of the World War I trenches laid down their weapons and ventured into the muddy “no mans land” to wish each other peace and goodwill at this special time of year.
The Christmas message of “peace to all” is particularly significant this year as it is the centenary of the football truce that was held in the battlefields in 1914.
This year, we would like YOU to create the reading for our Key Stage 2
In 300 words (about 1 side of A4 paper), we would like you to write or type the account of the Christmas Truce and the message of “peace and goodwill to all” that these soldiers sent to the world.
You can write in any way you like, but here are some ideas:
Write a football report on the match
Write a letter home from one of the soldiers telling their family about the match
Write a headline newspaper report telling of the “football truce”
Write a diary entry of a soldier who took part in the match
