British Values – Your vote counts!

As it was Election Day Hollywood used democratic voting to vote for the new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Eco Committee. Lots of staff and pupils read the manifestos and cast their vote. The results of the secret ballot will be announced soon!

Year 2 decided to vote democratically to name the butterflies that are developing in their cocoons in 2BP. The winning names were Rainbow, Poppe, Ryanair, Fluttershy and Katie Rosy.

Make the world better with a sweater! – Christmas Jumper Day 2014

Make the world better with a sweater! – Christmas Jumper Day 2014

We are helping to make the world better with a sweater! Friday 12th December will be ‘Wear a Christmas Jumper to School day.’ We are raising money for Save the Children. Children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper (bought or made!) and bring a donation of £1 into school to support the work that Save the Children do at home and abroad.

Competition – the football truce

100 years ago the game of football was used as an act of peace as soldiers from both sides of the World War I trenches laid down their weapons and ventured into the muddy “no mans land” to wish each other peace and goodwill at this special time of year.

The Christmas message of “peace to all” is particularly significant this year as it is the centenary of the football truce that was held in the battlefields in 1914.

This year, we would like YOU to create the reading for our Key Stage 2

Carol Service.

In 300 words (about 1 side of A4 paper), we would like you to write or type the account of the Christmas Truce and the message of “peace and goodwill to all” that these soldiers sent to the world.

You can write in any way you like, but here are some ideas:

  • Write a football report on the match
  • Write a letter home from one of the soldiers telling their family about the match
  • Write a headline newspaper report telling of the “football truce”
  • Write a diary entry of a soldier who took part in the match
